Shortstown Primary School - Update

I know constituents with an interest in Shortstown Primary School remain very concerned about the proposed restructuring being carried out by HEART Trust, and I wanted to update you with what actions I have been taking in relation to this.

HEART Academies Trust - Restructuring Proposals

I have had conversations this week with representatives from the Trust and Local Governing Body of Shortstown Primary School. The Trust will shortly be writing to parents to explain the decisions which have been taken and to offer opportunities for face to face meetings.

Biggleswade Station - One Step Closer to Redevelopment

Following a number of meetings held over the last year, led by Alistair Burt MP, and joined by a range of stakeholders, Biggleswade Station will shortly be nominated to the ‘Access for All’ scheme to help create step-free access solutions; as well as wider improvements to parking and public trans

"Amazon" Tax (Online retail tax)

I appreciate the concerns I have received from constituents recently about online retailers paying tax and agree that it is vital they contribute fairly to funding our public services.

Agriculture Bill

In September the Government introduced the Agriculture Bill, which has its Second Reading on 10 October.  A number of constituents have been in touch ahead of the Second Reading, and I am grateful for the emails I have received.

Youth unemployment rate falls to record low

Figures released today show that unemployment has remained at its lowest level in more than four decades, with youth unemployment falling to its lowest rate since records began.
