MP welcomes local allocation of funding for social care and highways following Chancellor’s Budget statement

In the Autumn Budget the Government announced almost £1 billion of extra funding for local authorities.  The provisional allocation of additional social care funding has now been published with Bedford Borough due to receive £1,681,366 towards winter pressures and adults’ and children’s social care; and Central Bedfordshire £2,345,341.

The funding boost also includes highways. Bedford Borough has been allocated a further £1,324,000 and Central Bedfordshire £1,976,000.

Alistair said:

“I am delighted that the provisional settlement package for social care has now been announced.  It will help our local authorities to deliver the services communities need and to support the most vulnerable residents.  Local councils can use it to improve their social care offer for older people, people with disabilities and children.

The additional money for local highways maintenance, ahead of the winter weather, is also welcome and will enable the council to repair potholes and keep our local roads open and safe”.
