Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy safety review

Constituents have been in regular touch about the Government's Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy and will be aware that a consultation was recently held.  I am pleased that the results of the consultation have now been published and you can read them in full here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/758519/cycling-walking-investment-strategy-safety-review.pdf

Some of the measures announced are:

  • a review of the existing guidance in the Highway Code to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians
  • improved enforcement against parking in cycle lanes
  • appointment of a cycle and walking champion
  • engagement with cycling and walking bodies to develop a behaviour change campaign
