Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill

Thank you to those who have emailed me recently about the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill, which will introduce legislation to replace the current system known as 'Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards'.  I appreciate the concerns that have been raised.

Update - Universal Credit

I have received the following letter from the Work and Pensions Secretary regarding the next phase of the Universal Credit roll out (Managed Migration) and the two-child policy, which I hope constituents will find helpful.

NHS Long Term Plan and waiting times

A number of constituents have contacted me about the NHS Long Term Plan, which was recently announced by the Prime Minister, and waiting times.

Brexit - vote on the Withdrawal Agreement

It would be foolish to gloss over the vote last night in the House of Commons on Brexit. It was a huge vote against the Withdrawal Agreement negotiated by the Government and the EU, and historically extraordinary. Of course it’s a serious blow. 

This week's Brexit

Parliament returned this week and provided a couple of reminders that the Conservative Government does not have a majority, and the complications of that are likely to accelerate over the next few weeks.

This week, the Prime Minister launched the Long Term Plan for the NHS – a historic moment for patients in North East Bedfordshire and across the country.
